I have a transmission leak. How much will it cost to repair?
The cost of repair is unknown without inspecting the vehicle.
There are numerous places where a transmission leak can occur. For example, the front pump, transmission cooling lines, manual lever seal, rear output seal, governor cover, speedometer, filler tube, axle seals, side cover, accumulator, differential cover etc.
Most people including general repair technicians can only see the bottom of the transmission and conclude the pan gasket is leaking. But, in some situations the leak is from above and runs down around the pan. In other situations it is leaking from multiple locations. Therefore, an experienced transmission technician must inspect the transmission to evaluate the leaks before a cost of repair can be estimated.
