The Eastside's Quality Leader

My transmission may need to be rebuilt. What is the worst case cost that I can expect?

This question is understandable because most people want to be prepared for the worst case situation.

But, the worst case would mean that your transmission is very badly worn, not repairable and must be replaced by another unit. If it is an electronically controlled transmission, the worst case scenario will require us to replace the computer and all related sensors. The worst case is extremely rare, so in reality an accurate answer to that question will not be very helpful.

If this question is answered for you and you bring your vehicle in after being quoted a worst case cost, you also risk giving approval for the worst case cost no matter what is wrong with your transmission.

A better question to ask is what will it cost to determine whether my transmission needs to be rebuilt, or not? At Quality Transmission this will not cost you anything.

Once it is determined your transmission needs to be rebuilt, ask what will it cost to thoroughly diagnose the internal transmission problem and produce an accurate repair estimate?

Accurate answers can be given to both questions and the answers will be helpful.
